If we were having coffee – remodeling rant, cry babies and Michelle

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how happy bathroom fixures can make a remodeling girl.

Yesterday was the first day of delivaries of pretty stuff for the house. You can’t believe how much I needed that, after the last couple of weeks of spending money on hard core construction stuff. I even felt knowledgeable enough to write a blog in Dutch about roof isolation because of it! So yesterday was a very happy day, with bathroom tiles coming in and the bathroom fixtures.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you to prepare for set backs when remodeling project. We already took some uncalculated costs that we didn’t budget for. But this week we learned that our windows hadn’t been scheduled for placement! If we hadn’t called them why the windows had been delivered earlier than planned, they wouldn’t have even known they were there at all. The Love of My Life spent hours on the phone to get us a timely date for placement before moving day. He succeeded, but now there’s hardly any time left for finishing decorating.

On top of that, the kitchen comes later than expected too and we will be spending our first weekend in our new home with NO KITCHEN.

If we were having coffee, I could bore you with remodeling talk for hours, but I could also share that Mini is finally growing into this whole school thing. He stopped crying when we leave him at school,  and he now wakes up at night when he has to pee. Believe me, this is a GREAT improvement from wetting his bed or even wetting ours. Yes, even with Mini at four years old, we co-sleep half the night through. And without the bed wetting it means the midnight disturbances are down to 5 minute pee break. And that my friend, is a WIN.

I’m actually a little anxious for fall break. I’m afraid we have to start all over again with the crying and the bed wetting after the holiday is over. I guess we find out soon enough!

If we were having coffee, I’d had to go political on you and ask you if you have seen Michelle Obama’s latest speech. If Clinton doesn’t make it to be the first female president of the United States, Michelle definitely would if she wanted too! She has al the character and charm experienced Clinton lacks. And the way she brought that brilliant speech! If you haven’t seen it yet, this is the entire speech:

So there’s my share over weekend coffee! Now, let’s have another so you can tell me yours. Or if this is you just dropping an ear, let’s hug and

xoxo – Irene
